If you’ve owned a few Banpresto figures, you know what to expect. Solid build, iconic “standing and looking” poses, sometimes a fun little base detail, and overall a fair price-to-quality ratio. But let’s be honest – things often felt a little... static.
That’s exactly why Banpresto Evolve is here – a new product line that wants to shake up the traditional prize figure formula and level up the experience. It’s not a revolution. But it’s definitely an evolution. And a promising one.
What is Banpresto Evolve?
Banpresto Evolve is a new figure line from Bandai Spirits, launched quietly but with a clear goal:
- to deliver figures that look more dynamic and striking than classic prize models,
- without drifting out of reach for average collectors.
The first figure in the line was released in February 2025, and so far only seven models exist – but the quality and community feedback suggest this isn’t just a one-off experiment, but the start of something bigger.
What sets these figures apart:
- more action-packed poses – finally, no more characters just standing around with crossed arms,
- heavier and sturdier – still PVC, but noticeably more solid and weighty,
- richer detailing – clothing, expressions, hair motion all improved,
- and most importantly, creative bases that complement the figure instead of just supporting it.
Right now there are 7 models in the wild – and we already have the first three at Bakuhatsu, available to see live at Comics Salon 2025.
Which Evolve figures do we have?
Madoka Kaname – Banpresto Evolve
A burst of elegance and energy. Her flowing cape, detailed bow, and base full of motion give her a near-scale-figure presence. For Madoka fans, this is finally a version that doesn’t feel like a compromise.
Homura Akemi – Banpresto Evolve
A mix of darkness and motion. Wind-blown hair, a weapon in hand, and an intense facial expression. The base feels explosive and alive – far from the usual static prize designs. Easily one of the best prize Homuras ever made.
Hatsune Miku – Banpresto Evolve
Futuristic, airy, and full of movement. Her hair makes up half the figure’s height, the base features a stylish arc, and the details feel more like a premium line than a prize figure.
What does the community say?
Initial reactions were cautious – but turned into pleasant surprise quickly. Here’s what collectors are saying:
- “They look more expensive than they are.”
- “Detailing is far above typical prize standards.”
- “Assembly takes a bit of effort, but the result is worth it.”
Yes – they can be a bit tricky to assemble, mostly because of the extra parts and more complex bases. But once they’re set up, they’re sturdy, balanced, and look impressive on display.
How do they compare to standard Banpresto figures?
In short? A clear step up. Anyone who owns pieces from lines like DXF, Grandista or even Vibration Stars knows the classic Banpresto vibe: planted, passive poses. Evolve figures feel livelier, bolder, and more “display-ready.”
It’s not a materials revolution – but in terms of design, it’s a big win. Think of it as a prize-scale hybrid: affordable, but with flair.
Final word? Keep your eye on Banpresto Evolve
This line still has room to grow – but if this is the new direction for Banpresto, we’re all for it. If you want to freshen up your collection with something familiar yet new, Banpresto Evolve delivers joy straight out of the box.
And yes – you might break a light sweat during assembly. But you’ll appreciate it even more afterward.
